On the night of March 29, Russian military forces conducted a significant assault on Ukraine, utilizing a Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile and deploying 442 strike drones, including models such as Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas. This information was confirmed by the Ukrainian Air Force.
The attack commenced at approximately 18:00 on March 28, originating from various locations in Russia, including Bryansk, Kursk, and the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. Reports indicate that around 300 of the drones used in the operation were of the Shahed type.
As of 09:00, Ukrainian air defense systems successfully intercepted or suppressed 380 of the Russian drones. This included a combination of aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups.
Additionally, strikes from 16 of the attacking drones were recorded at seven different locations, with debris falling in 14 areas across Ukraine.
“The attack is ongoing, and several enemy drones remain in the airspace. Please adhere to safety protocols,” the Ukrainian Air Force advised.
