Russian Federation: a former senator convicted of corruption went to war against Ukraine

Former member of the Russian Federation Council and mayor of Vladivostok Ihor Pushkarev, convicted of corruption, went to war against Ukraine, his lawyer claims. Earlier, Pushkarev signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense. Before that, the courts sentenced him to 15 years in prison in six criminal cases.

Former member of the ruling party “United Russia” Ihor Pushkarev held a position in the Federation Council from 2004 to 2008, he was the youngest member of the chamber. From 2008 to 2017, he worked as the mayor of Vladivostok, spending the last year under arrest.

He was found guilty of receiving and giving a bribe, mediating it and exceeding official powers.

In October 2024, it is known that Pushkarev signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense. In January 2024, another former mayor of Vladivostok, Oleg Humenyuk, went to war. He held the position in 2019-2021.
