During a meeting in Yekaterinburg, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu expressed concerns regarding the evolving capabilities of Ukrainian drones, indicating that no region in Russia can be considered safe from potential attacks.
Shoigu noted that the Ural region, once deemed secure from aerial strikes originating from Ukraine, now faces direct threats. He highlighted the area’s significance, stating it houses strategic defense enterprises, energy facilities, and major oil and gas reserves, all of which are vital to Russia’s economic security and military readiness.
Additionally, Shoigu emphasized the importance of the Ural’s extensive transport infrastructure, including major railways and federal highways. He warned that damaging these assets could lead to considerable economic repercussions and destabilize the functioning of large urban areas, disrupting supply chains critical for military operations.
Reports from Russian governors and the Ministry of Defense frequently mention strikes by Ukrainian drones targeting defense-related enterprises, with the range of these drones becoming increasingly significant.
Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asserted that Ukraine has developed effective strategies and capabilities, bolstered by military advancements and production initiatives established since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has raised alarms about the heightened threat posed by Ukrainian drones to the Ural region, emphasizing its strategic importance. He warned that attacks could disrupt critical infrastructure and impact Russia's military operations.
