Russia wants to buy back in Turkey C-400 complexes that it sold in 2017

Vlad Cherevko I have been interested in all kinds of electronics and technologies since the early 2000s. I like to play computer games and understand the work of different gadgets. I regularly monitor the news of the technology in the world and write materials about it.

Russia appealed to Turkey with a proposal to return two C-400 anti-aircraft missile complexes, which Ankara purchased in 2017 for $ 2.5 billion and received in 2019. About it reports “Military” with reference to the Turkish edition of Nefes.

The reason for the initiative is the deficiency of such systems in Russian reserves and increasing demand for them by third countries. In Turkey, complexes were not integrated into NATO structures, and the shelf life of their missiles has already reached half of the established resource. In addition, they require maintenance, which creates additional costs for the Turkish side.

Ankara develops his own çelik Kubbe (steel dome), which reduces dependence on Russian technologies in parallel. Turkey also seeks to revoke US sanctions imposed by CAATSA after the purchase of the C-400. The sanctions have led to the exclusion of the F-35 fighter fighter program.

Moscow is interested in rapid replenishment of C-400 reserves, as loss at the front and external demand creates a shortage. There are no ready complexes in the reserve except those already operated.

There is no official answer from Turkey, but the sources report a positive attitude to the proposal.

According to “militaristic”, earlier Russia has already postponed the terms of transfer of the last C-400 India because of its own needs, moving them to 2026-2027.

By the way, Ukrainian defense forces have been actively destroying Russian air defense systems, including C-400. Recently, the fighters of the GUR of the Ukraine managed to hit the Crimea RLS in the Crimea from the C-400 anti-aircraft missile system. Later, the special unit of GRA “Ghost” destroyed new objects of air defense in the Crimea, among which was the radar from the SCR C-400.
