Secretary of the Security Council Mykola Patrushev stated in an interview with the Russian publication “National Defense”, which NATO “traditionally” uses threats as the main instrument in interstate relations and that the “European wing” of the Alliance continues the policy of “blocking” in the Baltic region.
Patrushev states that the United Kingdom “is in charge of the aggravation of the situation” by NATO to disrupt negotiations on Ukraine, as well as attempts by Russia and the US to normalize bilateral relations.
He also said that, unlike the Finnish authorities, the Finnish population allegedly treated Russia and that the United Kingdom allegedly allowed Finnish authorities to “do everything to deprive their country (Finland – ed.) Sovereignty.”
Patrushev threatenedly stated that the Gulf of Finnish has a historical “geographical affiliation with Russia” and that “it should not be forgotten that Finland was part of the Russian Empire” that “respected” and “kept” the Finnish people and language. That the event “again transforms (Finland – ed.) To a bridgehead” for aggression against Russia.
Literally: “The Kremlin uses such false narratives about discrimination by the Ukrainian government of Russian -speaking minorities in Ukraine and the military threats that Ukraine allegedly poses for Russia to justify Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
Patrushev’s statements that the United Kingdom is “managing” the allegedly threatening behavior of Finland and the Baltic countries is likely to be part of the Kremlin’s constant efforts to kill a wedge between the US and Europe and weaken NATO.
It seems that the Kremlin uses the same set of narratives he used against Ukraine and other former Soviet republics, but corrects its narratives to take advantage of any tension in relations between Western countries. ”
Key conclusions ISW for March 13:
- Russian ruler Vladimir Putin rejected a proposal to cease fire, which the US and Ukraine in Jedda (Saudi Arabia) recently agreed, and suggested an alternative version that undermines US President Donald Trump, the purpose of providing long -term peace in Ukraine.
- Putin offers a ceasefire agreement that contradicts the intentions and goals of the US-Ukrainian initiative.
- Putin’s proposed truce will give Russia much disproportionate advantages and create the conditions for the Kremlin’s restoration of combat operations on extremely favorable conditions for Russia.
- Putin actually holds the initiative to stop hostage fire, trying to receive preventive concessions before official negotiations to end the war.
- Russian troops continue to displace the Ukrainian forces from the judge and its surrounding area, while their promotion is closer to the border in the Kursk region on March 13 compared to the last days.
- The Russian “military” on March 13 suggested that Russian troops can launch an organized offensive operation in the north of Sumy region in the coming weeks and months, as well as attack the Chernihiv region – in accordance with the statements of Russian ruler Vladimir Putin on March 12.
- Kremlin officials continue to use narratives similar to those that the Kremlin justified its invasions into Ukraine to create information conditions for legitimizing future aggression against NATO member states.
- Russian troops continue to execute Ukrainian prisoners of war, grossly violating international law.
- Russia will probably expand its permanent military base in Belarus to strengthen the military presence on the Eastern Flanging of NATO.
- Ukrainian troops advanced near Pokrovsk, while Russian troops were in Sumy region, as well as near Liman, Siverskaya and Toretsk.
- Russia continues its cryptomobilization against the background of US efforts aimed at starting the negotiation process to end the war.
