The Ministry of Defense of Russia reported that on Tuesday night, Russian air defense systems shot down 13 Ukrainian drones, nine of them in the Belgorod region, two each in the Bryansk and Kursk regions.
According to the calculations of the Russian service of the BBC, since the beginning of the year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have attacked refineries and oil infrastructure on the territory of Russia at least 64 times. Reuters counted 13 attacks on Russian oil infrastructure in June-August.
Since the beginning of 2024, Russian refineries have been regularly attacked by Ukrainian drones. At some plants, primary oil processing units failed and required repair. However, already in April, Russia was able to partially restore the capacities of key oil refineries.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, called the attacks on the oil refinery a response to the strikes by Russian troops on Ukraine’s energy sector.
