Russia has greatly accelerated the production of Iskander missiles due to imports of machines from China – media

Vlad Cherevko I have been interested in all kinds of electronics and technologies since 2004. I like to play computer games, and I understand the work of different gadgets. I regularly monitor the news of the technology in the world and write materials about it.

Despite the Western sanctions, Russia managed to sharply increase the production of Iskander-M ballistic missiles. According to the Kyiv Independent investigation, more than 700 such missiles were produced in the Russian Federation alone – three times more than in 2023. As it turned out, the key role in this played the import of equipment from China, Taiwan and Belarus, which is carried out through intermediaries.

The main executor of the expansion program was the Votkin Plant, an enterprise that collects Iskander, Yars, Bulava missiles and probably Oreshnik. Journalists found that new equipment, including metal -cutting machines with numerical software control, which is critically important for the manufacture of rocket components, began to receive the plant.

Although Western restrictions prohibit the sale of such equipment to Russia, the plant has been able to bypass sanctions through a mediators. Supplies were made by little-known private companies from the Russian Federation, such as the Ural machine company or Kurus Alliance. The main source of imports was China – out of 10 identified contracts, 8 were on the mainland of the PRC. Separate supplies came from Taiwan and Belarus.

In parallel, the plant expanded physically: two new workshops were built, more than 7,000 equipment was purchased, and the staff increased by 2.5 thousand people. According to Ukrainian military intelligence, as of June 2025, Russia has accumulated at least 900 Iskander missiles-600 Iskander-M missiles and 300 Iskander-K missiles.

The expansion occurs against the background of massive blows in Ukraine. In 2024, Russia inflicted 245 strokes of Iskander only in Ukraine, which is 4.5 times more than in 2023. This year, 180 strokes of these rockets have already been taken. However, analysts say that a large number of rockets remain in warehouses.

These facts indicate that Russia not only compensates for missile losses, but also prepares for protracted confrontation.
