Ukrainian singer Ruslana Lyzhychko, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004, has been appointed to the professional jury for Germany’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. This announcement was made on the official website of the German selection process.
In her role, Ruslana will assess both the vocal abilities and stage performances of the contestants, drawing on her extensive experience as a previous winner and producer. Her involvement highlights the cultural solidarity and support for Ukraine from European partners.
The German selection event is scheduled for February 28 at 19:15 Kyiv time, with hosts Barbara Schöneberger and Hazel Brugger leading the proceedings.
Reacting to her appointment on social media, Ruslana expressed that it is a significant responsibility and an opportunity to remind Europe of Ukraine’s strength and musical energy.
“Germany has always been very supportive of my work. It is important for me not just to choose a song but to help find an artist who can ignite the hearts of Europeans just as we did in 2004,” she stated, as reported by Euromix.
In the 2025 Eurovision contest, Germany was represented by the duo Abor & Tynna with their song “Baller.” They won the national selection Chefsache ESC 2025 and performed for Germany at the competition held in Basel in May 2025.
