“Right now, I will not give any details or specifics about the final version. Because until tomorrow until the day after tomorrow, all this can change further. I can say that I am full of optimism. We can do something here, because today we have made a lot of progress,” he said.
The US Secretary of State stated that the peace process was started, already understanding Russia’s position.
“What we have come to today, we need to work on it further, agree with the Ukrainian and Russian sides. They have to agree on it so that it works,” he added.
Asked about the deadline for the deal, Rubio said: “The deadline is this – we want to do it as soon as possible.”
“Yes, I would like by Thursday or sometime. But today we have come a long way. I am full of optimism. We will make progress soon – whether it is Thursday, or Friday, or Monday of next week… We just need more time,” he added.
When asked if consultations were held with representatives of European countries, Rubio said: “Yes, we met with the national security advisers of many countries. We explained to them, also without details, but in general what we advanced today, what we agreed on. Something required feedback from them, but from what I see, there is a lot of positivity from both the American and Ukrainian sides about it all.”
At the same time, when asked about the counter-proposals of European representatives published in the media, Rubio said: “I have not heard of any counter-proposals from Europe.”
