“Secretary of State Rubio added that the review of the United States’ participation in international organizations continues”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org
“Trump announced the withdrawal of the United States from 66 international organizations that were identified in the course of the Trump administration’s analysis of ineffective, wasteful and harmful international organizations. The presidential memorandum is directed against institutions that are redundant in scope, poorly managed, unnecessary, wasteful, poorly organized, self-interested entities that advance their own agendas, conflict with, or pose a threat to the sovereignty, freedoms, and overall prosperity of our country,” his statement reads.
According to him, the international system is now crowded with “hundreds of opaque international organizations, many of which have duplicative mandates, duplicative actions, inefficient results, and poor financial and ethical management.”
“Even those that once served useful functions are increasingly becoming inefficient bureaucracies, platforms for politicized activism, or tools against our country’s best interests. These institutions not only do not produce results, but also hinder the actions of those who want to solve these problems. The era of writing blank checks to international bureaucrats is over,” Rubio said.
The US Secretary of State added that the review of the United States’ participation in international organizations continues, but this does not mean that Washington is turning its back on the world.
“We are simply rejecting the outdated model of multilateralism that sees American taxpayers as the world’s guarantor of a sprawling architecture of global governance,” he said.

On January 7, US President Donald Trump signed a memorandum that provides for the withdrawal of the United States from 66 international organizations that “no longer serve America’s interests”, the White House announced.
The White House said that many of these organizations “promote radical climate policies, global governance and ideological agendas that contradict US sovereignty and economic power.”
The list of organizations includes, in particular, the Scientific and Technical Center in Ukraine, the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
