Details: According to the two Reuters interlocutors in the Donald Trump administration and another informed source, the United States wants to offer Greenland to conclude the so -called free association agreement (COFA).

The United States has already concluded CofA with small island states – Micronesia, Marshall Islands and Palau, and their provisions differ depending on the signature.
Usually, in such an agreement, US authorities guarantee countries a lot of necessary services – from delivery of mail to emergency response and military protection. In exchange for this, the US military has freedom of action in Cofa signaries, and their trade with the United States is mostly duty-free.
According to two Reuters sources, some officials of the US National Security Council and the Trump National Security Council created by Trump are conducted by Trump.
At the same time, CFAs have been concluded with sovereign states, while Greenland is an autonomy in Denmark. The European source of Reuters said Copenhagen was not informed of the relevant US plans.
Recall that the administration of US President Donald Trump has repeatedly declared intention to take control of Greenland, which is now part of Denmark on the rights of autonomy.
Recently, Trump has not excluded the possibility of using military force to establish control over Greenland. In Denmark, statements from the United States are unacceptable.
