Putin signed a decree on spring conscription in Russia. 160,000 people will be taken to the army

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on the spring conscription of Russian citizens for military service between April 1 and July 15. 160,000 people will be called to the army, according to a document published on the official portal of legal information.

From 2024, according to the new laws, citizens aged 18 to 30 years have been taken to conscript service (earlier the upper limit was 27 years).

In 2024, during the spring conscription, 150 thousand people were taken to the army, in 2023-147 thousand people, in 2022-134.5 thousand people, the State Russian Agency TASS said.

The increase in the number of conscripts is related to Putin’s decrees on the gradual growth of the Russian army. At the beginning of 2022, there were about one million servicemen in Russia. Over the course of three years, the staffing of the army has raised to one and a half million people.
