Two North Korean soldiers who were captured in Ukraine during hostilities on the side of Russia wrote a letter in which they expressed their desire to go to South Korea.

Details: The head of a group of North Korean defectors in South Korea is reported to have said that two North Korean prisoners in their 20s wrote such a letter in October when they met with a South Korean documentary producer at a prisoner-of-war camp near Kyiv.

The captives also expressed their gratitude to those who said that the current situation in which they found themselves “is not a tragedy, but the beginning of a new life.”

The South Korean government said it had informed the Ukrainian government of its readiness to accept North Korean prisoners if their intentions were confirmed.
