As of April 9, parts of Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions are experiencing temporary power outages due to military actions and Russian strikes on energy infrastructure. Additionally, severe weather conditions have led to outages in Kyiv Oblast.
The Ministry of Energy and Ukrenergo reported that emergency restoration efforts are underway wherever safety conditions permit, aiming to restore electricity supply to affected consumers as quickly as possible.
The Ministry of Energy has announced that due to previous attacks from Russia and the challenging situation within the energy system, scheduled power outages will be implemented from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM across all regions of Ukraine. Furthermore, power limitations for industrial use will be in effect from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
Ukrenergo also indicated that the energy system’s status is subject to change and advised citizens to monitor updates on the websites and official pages of local energy companies.
Electricity Consumption Trends
On April 9, electricity consumption in Ukraine is showing an upward trend. As of 7:00 AM, consumption levels were 4.9% higher than at the same time the previous day.
The increase in demand is attributed to the continued cold weather across the country, coupled with overcast conditions in many regions, which has resulted in reduced efficiency of residential solar power systems.
Ukrenergo noted that on April 8, the daily peak consumption was recorded in the morning, reaching 6.4% higher than the peak on April 7. This rise is linked to a drop in air temperatures nationwide.
Power outages continue in several Ukrainian regions due to military actions and adverse weather, prompting emergency restoration efforts. Increased electricity consumption is being driven by cold temperatures, impacting the efficiency of solar energy systems.
