The head of the Center for Combating Misinformation at NSDC Andriy Kovalenko stated that on the night of Wednesday, February 19, drones attacked the Sizran oil refinery in the Samara region of the Russian Federation.
Updated 09:24. Kovalenko noted that the Syzran Refinery stopped working after the attack.
In his Telegram channel, he reported that the plant has a processing capacity of 8.9 million tons of oil a year, which makes it one of the average in size of refinery in Russia.
The products of refinery include fuel, aviation kerosene and bitumen. In 2015, the plant completely switched to the production of Euro-5 products. It processes oil from Western Siberia and Samara region.
Kovalenko added that refineries of this level play an important role for the Russian army because they provide it with fuel.
Earlier, Russian Telegram channels wrote that the drones attacked the Sizran refinery, a fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise. Governor of Samara region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed the fact of the attack and stated that there were no victims.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation claims that the air defense “knocked down” nine drone at night. At the same time, they did not mention the attack on the Samara region.
On February 18, Astra Telegram channel reported that in the first two months of 2025, drones attacked at least 17 oil facilities in Russia.
