Sister Karam heads the Foundation of the Santa Clara Monastery, thanks to which Ukraine previously received vehicles, medicines, surgical equipment, generators, clothes, as well as a mobile hospital and ambulances.
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Karam has visited Ukraine more than 20 times. As point out in the Office of the President, the nun first came to Ukraine in 2015. At that time, she aimed to see with her own eyes the consequences of Russian aggression in the east of the country, visited medical facilities and communicated with wounded servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On November 18, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, during an official visit to Madrid, honored the work of Lucia Karam with a state award – the Order of Princess Olga III degree.
