“The EC prepares a new package”, – WRITE: www.radiosvoboda.org
Four European diplomats shared the details of the discussions behind the closed doors.
The new package of European sanctions aimed at reducing the opportunities of the Russian economy to finance the war should be made public in September. It will be directed against ships and companies of the so -called “shadow fleet” that help Russia to circumvent existing restrictions.
However, according to the media, the most painful consequences for Moscow will occur in the case of secondary sanctions – against companies or countries that run business with Russia, and the real effect will depend on the US.
According to Politico, many observers believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to a meeting with the head of the White House Donald Trump on Alaska on August 15 only after Washington introduced high duties on India – in connection with its procurement of Russian oil. The next significant step may be the same sanctions to limit Russia’s most important trade with China.
US President Trump seems to leave this option with China in the event of a failure of peace talks.
“In the next two weeks, we will find out how everything will come back,” Trump said on August 22. The American leader threatened Moscow with “large -scale sanctions or large -scale duties, or both times” if Moscow does not take steps towards.
“Or we do nothing and say that it’s your fight,” Trump said.
After a telephone conversation with the President of Russia on August 18, Donald Trump reported that he began to prepare a meeting of Vladimir Putin and President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, who would “depend on them”.
