“European officials believe that the mention of Greenland at the meeting of the “coalition of the determined” in Paris on January 6 may anger the United States, and therefore they will try to avoid it in order to prevent the disruption of the process of peace negotiations in Ukraine.”, — write: www.pravda.com.ua

Details: It is noted that Donald Trump’s threats to annex Greenland will be heard on January 6 in Paris, where about 40 EU leaders and high-ranking officials will gather for a meeting of the “coalition of the determined” to discuss security guarantees for Kyiv.

According to the representative of the Elysee Palace, the purpose of the meeting is, in particular, to deepen the agreement between Ukraine, Europe and the USA on how to end the war with Russia. In this context, the participation of the USA is crucial, said the representative of the Elysee Palace.
An EU official argued that any attempt to shift the focus to Greenland risks inflaming Trump’s anger.
The newspaper notes that during a briefing at the Elysee Palace before the event, there was no mention of Trump’s threats against Greenland – despite the fact that the meeting will be attended by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who warned on Monday that any American attack on the territory would mean the end of NATO.
Taking Greenland out of the brackets of the meeting may suit many Europeans, as well as Americans. With Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy saying late last year that Ukraine and the United States were “90 percent” closer to a final peace proposal that could be presented to Russia, Europeans are desperate to avoid derailing the process — regardless of what Trump says or does about Greenland.
According to an EU official, the participants are gradually moving closer to an agreement on “six or seven different documents” dealing with various aspects of the ceasefire and the post-war structure.
Although no final approval of the documents is currently expected, EU leaders may prepare a joint statement on security guarantees.
Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff will personally attend the “coalition of the determined” meeting in Paris.
