Investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 438 (military crimes) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine in June stated that civilians in the frontline regions of Ukraine were affected by the attacks of the small radius of the Russian military, and a large number of such attacks deteriorated already in the critical humanitarian situation along the front line.
The organization has documented cases where “drone operators deliberately attacked civilians who moved private cars, used buses, walked on the street, went on bicycles, provided humanitarian aid, evacuated others or were clearly marked.” Such attacks can take war crimes, the UN emphasized.
Russian military regularly from various weapons – UAVs, missiles, booths, RSSUs – attacked Ukrainian regions.
The Russian leadership denies that during a full -scale war, the Russian army causes purposeful strikes in the civilian infrastructure of cities and villages of Ukraine, killing civilian populations and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply.
Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes of the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are purposeful.
