Formally, the presidential elections in Poland will be announced in a week, on January 15. Only after that will the election campaign begin.
The term is linked to the constitutional provision that elections cannot be held for 90 days after the end of a state of emergency, and the state of emergency imposed by the government in response to the September floods was lifted on 16 October 2024.
The mayor of Warsaw, candidate from the governing party “Civil Coalition” Rafal Tsaskowski announced his participation in the presidential elections; the president of the Institute of National Remembrance, Karol Navrotskyi, who is supported by the “Law and Justice” party; leader of “Poland 2050” Szymon Holovnia; Vice Speaker of the Senate, candidate from the Left Party Magdalena Biyat; deputy Slawomir Mentzen from the Confederation; deputy Marek Jakubiak from the Circle of Free Republicans and Marek Voch from the Non-Partisan Association of Local Self-Government.
