Poland Continues Funding Starlink Terminals in Ukraine, Defense Minister Confirms

The Ukrainian Defense Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, announced that Poland is financing nearly 30,000 Starlink satellite communication terminals in Ukraine. This support is crucial for maintaining connectivity amidst ongoing challenges.

Fedorov expressed gratitude to Poland’s Minister of Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Gawkowski, and the Polish government for their steadfast assistance. He emphasized that the terminals enable Ukrainians to stay connected despite the adversities they face.

In related developments, on January 27, Poland’s Foreign Minister urged Elon Musk to prevent the Russian military from using Starlink for attacks on Ukrainian cities. Radosław Sikorski remarked that profiting from war crimes could harm Musk’s business interests.

Musk responded to Sikorski’s comments by labeling the minister as a “sniveling moron,” while asserting that Starlink remains vital for the Ukrainian military’s operations. Following this, Fedorov reached out to Musk for help in addressing the misuse of Starlink by Russian drones.

On February 5, reports emerged that Russian forces experienced widespread disruptions with their Starlink terminals. Occupying troops complained about their inability to restore connectivity, which has adversely affected their operational coordination along the front lines.

Poland's ongoing funding of Starlink terminals in Ukraine plays a key role in maintaining communication for Ukrainians. This support comes amid tensions surrounding the use of Starlink by Russian forces, highlighting the complex dynamics of international aid and military operations.
