Details: When asked whether Germany plans to join the “Danish model”, Pistorius replied that the country is currently “working on several measures like the “Danish model”.
“And also, as I have already mentioned, on the development of joint ventures to increase the opportunities of the Ukrainian government to buy weapons for its own industry, receiving money from Western countries,” he added.
The head of the German Defense Ministry also emphasized that joint ventures would be “a very, very correct decision to increase cooperation.”
As you know, the German government in November 2023 for the first time allowed to create joint defense enterprise with Ukraine.
The “Danish model” arose from a memorandum which Ukraine and Denmark signed in June 2024. Denmark then became the first country to approve the purchase of weapons and equipment from Ukrainian manufacturers.
By 2025, Norway and Denmark already reserved hundreds of millions of euros for further purchases in the Ukrainian defense industry according to the “Danish model”.
