The well-known Kyiv photographer Oleksandr Ktytorchuk was sentenced to 12 years and 10 months in prison for the rape and molestation of underage girls, according to a statement from the Office of the Prosecutor General.

“The court found a well-known photographer guilty of rape, depravity of minors and production of pornographic objects, following a public prosecution by the juvenile prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The photographer was sentenced to 12 years and 10 months of imprisonment. He is also prohibited from holding positions and engaging in activities related to work with minors for a period of three years,” the department said.

It is known that the court considered this case for more than four years.

Prosecutors proved in court that “during the years 2017-2020, the man repeatedly raped minor and minor girls, and also committed lewd acts against them when they came to him for a photo shoot.”

“The photographer admitted his guilt and compensated the victims for moral damage,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

Information about Ktytorchuk was entered into the Unified Register of Persons Convicted of Crimes Against the Sexual Freedom and Sexual Inviolability of Minors.

Earlier, on November 26, 2020, Ktytorchuk was detained in his studio. The police claimed that since 2016, the photographer had “committed sexual abuse of minors and underage children” in his car and photo studio. Among the victims are girls aged 15 and 17. Currently, the police are investigating at least six victims.

During the search of Ktytorchuk’s studio apartment, law enforcement officers seized laptops, tablets, mobile phones, cameras and flash drives. In a story on Espreso.TV, the head of the police of the Kyiv region said that the detainee filmed sexual acts with minors on video and saved the videos on his computer.

Two days after the arrest, the suspicion for Ktytorchuk was reclassified as “rape”. Oleksandr Ktytorchuk himself rejects the accusation against him. In a conversation with TSN journalists, he called his detention “a concert and a theatrical performance.”

The selection of preventive measures for Ktytorchuk took place behind closed doors. Journalists were allowed into the courtroom already when the judge was reading the decision. Ktytorchuk was arrested for two months without bail. The photographer was handcuffed right in the courtroom. If found guilty, he faces up to 15 years in prison, the police report.
