“Under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine was notified of suspicion of treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the message reads.
According to the investigation, the people’s elected official systematically spread the narratives of the aggressor state publicly in his speeches and interviews. Disseminating specially selected information and using various forms of manipulation, he voiced distorted facts about the external and internal political course of Ukraine, influencing the consciousness and opinion of citizens.
“The suspect posted statements on social networks aimed at harming Ukraine’s information security. He distorted facts and events, creating informational pretexts for anti-Ukrainian information activities. By such actions, the suspect assisted the aggressor state in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine,” the message states.
So far, the prosecutors of the Prosecutor General’s Office have submitted to the suspect a request to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention.
