“The opening of the checkpoint “Nyzhankovychi – Malkhovychy” is an important step to increase the capacity of the Ukrainian-Polish border. The design capacity of the checkpoint provides for the possibility of processing about 50 buses and 2,000 cars per day for departure from Ukraine. It is important that control points will work at one checkpoint services of both countries. This will allow to halve the time required to carry out control measures, which, in turn, will speed up the processing time and crossing the border for passengers and drivers, as well as cargo. The eCherga system already operates for buses at this check point for departure from Ukraine. Therefore, passenger carriers must register in advance to cross the border on the website echerha.gov.ua or through the eCherga application. In addition to buses, cars and trucks up to 3.5 tons can also cross the checkpoint.
As reported by the department, the modernization of the checkpoint was financed by the Polish side. On the Ukrainian side, the repair of the 46-kilometer section of the Nyzhankovichi-Sambir road, which leads to the new checkpoint, was completed by the Service for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure in Lviv Region in 2023.
