On July 28, the memory of those who was executed, tortured or killed in captivity is honored in Ukraine. OGP points out that Russia’s systemic military crimes against prisoners of war and civilians.
According to the results of the investigation, the prosecutor’s office reported, that:
- More than 11,000 people were illegally detained;
- Recognized as victims: more than 5,000 military and more than 5 600 civilians;
- 534 persons were informed;
- The indictment was sent to court against 365 persons;
- 117 is convicted of indictments.
“Investigations testify that crimes were systemic in nature, based on discrimination on national and linguistic grounds, were planned and coordinated by representatives of the authorities of the aggressor country … The detainees were systematically tortured: beat, subjected to electric shock, used service dogs, soul, sighted, sighted, sighted. There are cases of causing injuries, burns, psychological abuse, ”the message reads.
According to the OGP, more than 45 employees of the Federal Sentence Service of Russia were suspected during the investigation of crimes committed in places of freedom. Among the suspects are the leaders of the Russian pre -trial detention center and colonies (Kursk, Old Oscol, Pakino), as well as heads of institutions in the occupied territories (Sukhodil, Volnovakha colonies).
“The mass murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war in a colony in Olenivka remains especially horrible: at least 50 people were killed on the night of July 28 to July 29, 2022, and another 140 were injured. The leadership of the colony was reported suspected of leaving the wounded without medical care, which led to the death of nine other Ukrainian soldiers, ”the prosecutor’s office said.
They stressed that these crimes are “a gross violation of international humanitarian law, Geneva conventions and all humanity norms”, and have no limitation period.
On July 23, the ninth stage of the exchange of prisoners of war was held, which Ukraine and the Russian Federation agreed in June in Istanbul.
