In 2013, this person was charged with the murder of the mayor of the village of Simeiz under Clause 5, Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and declared him wanted. At the same time, the materials of the criminal proceedings in 2014 in connection with the Russian occupation of the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea were lost.
In 2021, the police already detained this suspect (Ogorodnikov – ed.). In 2022, he was convicted of illegal possession of weapons and forgery and use of forged documents. At that time, the materials of the criminal proceedings on the murder of the mayor of the village of Simeiz were lost.
The legal possibility of restoring the materials of the criminal proceedings, which did not end with the sending of the indictment to the court and the adoption of the verdict, appeared in December 2022.
In October 2025, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the city of Sevastopol assigned the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the city of Sevastopol to carry out a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the fact of the intentional murder of the mayor of the village of Simeiz.
At the end of December 2025, thanks to the measures taken by the prosecutor’s office, these materials were restored by the decision of the investigating judge.
As the UP in the OGP clarified, now the person involved was detained specifically on suspicion of the murder of Mayor Semeiz and he will be tried for this murder.
