As reported in a telegram by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the appeals court agreed with the prosecution’s arguments about the presence of risks, including the possibility of influencing witnesses, obstructing criminal proceedings and evading justice.
The preventive measure in the form of detention for a people’s deputy suspected of high treason has been left without the alternative of bail, the Prosecutor General’s Office emphasizes.
On January 15, the Shevchenkiv Court of Kyiv set bail in the amount of 33 million hryvnias as a possible precautionary measure for MP Dubinsky, who has been in custody since November 2023.
Oleksandr Dubinsky was charged with several cases. In November 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine reported that People’s Deputy Oleksandr Dubinsky was suspected of treason and involvement in a criminal organization. According to the investigation, he had the call sign “Buratino” and “was part of a criminal organization formed by the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (known as the GRU).” The Security Service of Ukraine reported that the main task of this organization is “to shake the socio-political situation in Ukraine and discredit the state in the international arena.”
Later, the court took him into custody.
Dubinsky was suspected in the case of traveling abroad on the basis of false information. Ukrainian law enforcement officers also suspect him of organizing a scheme for the illegal departure of men abroad. The deputy stated that the SBI served him with suspicion “for criticizing Yermak and Zelenskyi.”
