OGP: from the beginning of the invasion of the Russian Federation recorded 366 facts of sexual violence associated with conflict

The Office of the Prosecutor General from the beginning of the Russian full -scale invasion of Ukraine recorded 366 facts of sexual violence related to the conflict, the head of the Department of CIS Crimes Anna Sosonskaya in the column on LB.ua reported

According to her, among the victims – 231 women, 135 men and 19 minors, and the largest number of such crimes is recorded in the Kherson and Donetsk regions.

As of June, according to OGP, 116 Facts of the SNPC were revealed, 12 people were convicted, 84 Russian servicemen were identified, and another 55 investigated were completed and the case was transferred to court.

“We understand that the number of applications does not reflect the real picture. People do not turn to law enforcement officers for various reasons: someone is afraid of publicity and condemnation by loved ones or neighbors. Someone worries that occupiers can return. There are people who just want to forget everything and even move so that nothing reminds you of the experience, ”Sosonskaya said.

“The reports of sexual violence came from the very beginning of Russian aggression in 2014. But it was during a full -scale invasion that this phenomenon became systemic, ”she stressed.

According to the UN decision, June 19 is celebrated as an International Day for Combating Conflict Sexual Violence (SNPK).
