Direct language Trump: “Tomorrow morning at 10:00 in the oval office there will be a large press conference on a large trade agreement with representatives of a large and very respected country. The first of many!”

Details: This Agreement will be the first agreement announced after Trump has introduced harsh tariffs for dozens of trading partners of America. He later suspended their action to allow other countries to reach agreements with the United States.

NYT notes that the Agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom can be a significant victory for both countries that have long sought closer economic cooperation.

The details of the agreement are currently unknown. Both countries discussed the decline in British tariffs for US cars and agricultural products, as well as the abolition of British taxes for American technological companies.

It is also unclear whether the agreement was actually concluded, – the publication said.

Trump left a 10 percent global tariff, in particular for the United Kingdom. Unlike other countries, Britain was not subject to higher “reciprocal” tariffs because it buys more in the United States than sells them. Administration representatives stated that they did not consider the possibility of cancellation of a 10 percent tariff under the trade agreement.

The United Kingdom is also subject to a 25 percent tariff, which Trump has introduced on imported steel, aluminum and cars-duties, which are abolished by British officials.

The publication reminds that Trump’s interest in concluding a trade agreement with the United Kingdom reaches his first term when his advisers negotiated with the country but have not reached the final agreement.

NYT adds that for British Prime Minister Kira Starmer, the trade agreement would be an excuse to support Trump. During his visit to the Oval Cabinet in February, the older appeared with the invitation from King Charles III for Trump to make a rare second state visit to Britain.

The publication suggests that the Trump administration seems to be approaching agreements with India and Israel, and continues negotiations with South Korea, Japan, Vietnam and other countries.

However, according to Trump, other countries need more such agreements than the United States.

Experts suggest that Trump may intend to declare much more limited agreements than traditional ones that cover most of the trade between countries and require Congress approval.

During his first term, Trump has already signed a “mini -region” with other countries.
