Details: The supply of millions of artillery shells from North Korea helped Russia maintain the intensity of fire on the battlefield in 2024, but Skibytsky said that number had more than halved this year as Pyongyang’s stockpile ran out.

The deputy head of the GUR cited data on the total supply of 6.5 million artillery shells to Russia from 2023 from North Korea, which took the opportunity to establish close ties with the Kremlin after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
He noted that no projectile shipments from North Korea were recorded in September, but some were recorded in October, and that about half of the projectiles supplied by Pyongyang were so old that they had to be sent to factories in Russia for modernization.
Skibytskyi added that North Korea has begun mass production of small short-range FPV drones as well as larger medium-range drones for battlefield attacks on its territory, although he did not specify the scale of production.
Direct speech Skibytsky: “They study, they study their experience (the wars of the Russian Federation against Ukraine – ed.) in order to expand production on their territory.”
What preceded: In early October, the SZR reported that North Korea supplies 35 to 50% of Russia’s ammunition needs.
