Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyaga has declared to the Ministers that he would seek the support of the Cabinet of Ministers for the full occupation of the Gaza Sector, despite the objections from the Israeli Defense Army (Tsakhal).
The official statement of the Prime Minister’s office states that Netanyhah had held a “limited discussion of security issues”, which lasted about three hours, during which the head of military staff Eyal Method “presented options for continuing the campaign in gas”.
“The lot is thrown. We go to the full occupation of the Gaza Sector,” the high -ranking media quoted from the premiere.
The tacham states that it opposes the full seizure of the gases, because, according to the army, the purification of all Hamas infrastructure may take years. It can also jeopardize the lives of hostages that their abductors can kill in the event of troops approaching.
“Operations will take place even in areas where the hostages are being held. If the Chief of Staff disagrees, he should resign,” the official added, referring to the Chief of Staff Tsakhal Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir.
Netanyaga’s plan was also opposed by Foreign Minister Gidaon Saar, party leader Chas Arye Derie, National Security Advisor Tsakhi Hanegby, Mossad’s head David Barnea, a representative of a saber, known under the Hebrew letter “Meme”, as well as a major in the resignation of Nitsan Alon.
It is unclear whether the Netagaya plan provides a long occupation, or a short -term operation aimed at eliminating Hamas and release of Israeli hostages.
The UN named the possible decision of Israel to expand military operations throughout the Gaza Sector “deeply alarming” if they are true.
“It can have catastrophic consequences for millions of Palestinians and even more threaten the life of hostages remaining in gas,” said UN Secretary General Miroslav Ensch during a meeting of the UN Security Council.
On Saturday, August 2, the American specialist Steve Witcoff told the families of hostages in Tel Aviv that US President Donald Trump seeks to achieve a comprehensive agreement on the return of hostages and end the war, and that there will be no longer “partial” agreements.
That preceded:
- On August 2, Hamas posted a video with a hostage Evatar David, on which he looked exhausted and dug, according to him, a pit for his grave.
- In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyaga stated that the staff of exhausted hostages in gas proved that Hamas was not interested in achieving an agreement on their release, and that they only strengthened his determination to “destroy” the terrorist group.
Prehistory:
- On October 7, 2023, Iran’s Hamas fighters were supported by Iran, and made a large -scale attack on Israel. About 1 200 people were killed as a result of the attack and about 250 were stolen, including citizens of Israel and other countries.
- In response, Israel launched a large -scale military operation in the Gaza sector aimed at destroying Hamas military infrastructure and hostage release.
- The army of Israel struck numerous air strikes, and later introduced troops into the enclave.
- The parties tried several times to agree on a temporary ceasefire. However, Israel did not agree to Hamas’s main demand – holding negotiations on the complete cessation of the war.
- On July 2, US President Donald Trump stated that Israel agreed to the final conclusion of a 60-day truce in the Gaza Sector and expressed his hope that “Hamas would accept this agreement because it will not be better-it will only become worse.”
- The Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, referring to the position of US President Donald Trump, said Hamas negotiations are not capable of ending the war because “these religious Nazis are aimed at destroying Israel.”
