Queens Jewels LLC says that a few centuries ago ships loaded with gold, silver and jewelry returned to Spain from the New World. On July 31, 1715, the flotilla was destroyed due to hurricane. As a result, numerous treasures were in the sea.
For many years, coins of the fleet have been found in the near coastal area. Last year, the state authorities declared finding a dozen gold coins that were stolen from the place of the sunken vessel.
Sal Guttuza told the Associated Press that the company’s team was working to create a detailed list of artifacts found during the season. Subsequently, the Florida authorities will take 20% of the preservation items. The rest is distributed equally between the owners of the company and its contractors.
