The forces and means of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed a sea mine that was brought to the coast of the Odesa region at night, the agency reported on September 16.

“The discovered ammunition was neutralized by a machine-gun round with all safety measures observed and the detonation site isolated,” the military said.

The Navy reminded that in case of detection of suspicious or explosive objects, in no case should you approach them, touch them or try to move them yourself. When such items are found, the relevant services must be notified.

In July, Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania launched a joint search for mines in the Black Sea. The three Black Sea countries seek to improve the safety of shipping, in particular, for Ukrainian grain exports.

From the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine until January of this year, almost 90 floating mines were destroyed in the Black Sea, most of them by Ukrainian forces. Romanian naval forces destroyed five mines.
