NATO has assured that all weapons and ammunition purchased by member states for Ukraine through the U.S. procurement mechanism known as PURL will be delivered as planned. This confirmation comes in light of recent reports suggesting a potential redirection of U.S. arms originally intended for Ukraine to the Middle East.
Alison Hart, a spokesperson for NATO, stated that all items funded by NATO allies and partners through the PURL mechanism have either been delivered to Ukraine or are in the process of being sent. “Everything that has been paid for through PURL has been delivered or continues to arrive in Ukraine,” Hart told European Pravda from Brussels.
Concerns were raised following reports in Western media indicating that the U.S. might redirect certain military supplies, including air defense missiles, originally ordered for Ukraine. Earlier in the day, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte reassured journalists that American weapons procured through PURL would continue to be supplied to Ukraine.
In response to the media speculation regarding the potential redirection of arms, former U.S. President Donald Trump remarked that the U.S. is consistently engaged in the redirection of weaponry from various parts of the world.
Additionally, it was reported that approximately 800 American-made interceptor missiles were utilized in the Middle East over a three-day period, a figure that surpasses the number of missiles employed by Ukraine during the winter months.
NATO has confirmed that all arms procured for Ukraine through the PURL mechanism will be delivered as planned, despite concerns about potential redirection to the Middle East. This assurance follows reports of U.S. military supplies being reassigned, highlighting ongoing geopolitical complexities.
