Details: According to the documents of the intelligence services of the NATO countries, with which AP got acquainted, weapons will be developed in Rosikha that can release hundreds of thousands of fragments into space and massively hit satellites.
At the same time, it is believed that the fragments will be only a few millimeters in size and will not be detected by ground or space systems that search for objects in space. Therefore, it will be difficult to blame Russia for such attacks.
NATO intelligence estimates that after such an attack, fragments and fragments of satellites will eventually fall to Earth and may damage other objects orbiting it.
Analysts interviewed by AP, however, believe that because of such consequences and the risk to Russia’s own satellites, Moscow may decide not to use such weapons.
Intelligence documents reviewed by the agency state that Russia considers Starlink satellites an extremely large threat, particularly in the context of helping Ukraine during a full-scale Russian invasion.
A number of Western countries have publicly warned of growing threats to satellites, which are essential for military and economic purposes, from Russia.
Moscow says it opposes any weapons in space, and denies it US claims about the fact that it launched a weapon capable of attacking other satellites into Earth’s orbit.
NATO is alarmed by the fact that Russia is considering the possibility placement of nuclear weapons in space.
