Details: The grounds for the case were the public statements of Ukrainian businessman Serhii Vaganyan, voiced in an interview on the YouTube channel of former People’s Deputy Boryslav Bereza, as well as an appeal to the bureau regarding this information by people’s deputies from the “European Solidarity” parliamentary faction. MP Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze announced this on Facebook.

Vaganyan, who is currently abroad, told in his interview how the system of corruption charges in the SBU allegedly worked during the leadership of Ivan Bakanov and Andriy Naumov, who headed the Main Department of Internal Security of the SBU in 2019-2021.
As reported by NABU, the qualification of an open case is Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) and Part 4 of Article 369 (offer, promise or provision of an illegal benefit to an official).
What preceded:
- On July 17, 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy removed Bakanov from the post of head of the SBU for “failure to perform official duties, which led to human casualties or other serious consequences”, which is provided for in Article 47 of the Disciplinary Statute of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
- As it became known in February 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted an official inspection of its ex-head, but its results were classified.
- In February 2025, at the request of “Ukrainian Pravda”, the SBI informed that Bakanov does not appear in any criminal proceedings of the bureau.
