Counter-intelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine and detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau uncovered a multimillion-dollar embezzlement during the purchase of defense products by the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: two officials of the command of this structure are suspected.

Details: According to the investigation, during 2022-2023, the heads of two structural subdivisions of the Central Directorate of Aviation Support and Air Defense of the Armaments of the Logistics Forces Command of the Armed Forces abused their official position in favor of representatives of two private companies, ensuring their victory in tenders for the purchase of aviation components.
With the assistance of officials, price proposals of a predetermined circle of participants were submitted for consideration by the commission, which was supposed to create the appearance of competition. Instead, the more profitable commercial offers of another participant were either intentionally distorted or completely ignored.
As a result, the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces concluded unprofitable contracts for the purchase of aviation spare parts for Ukrainian combat aircraft and overpaid for the products by 27.3 million UAH.
According to the available data, the participants of the scheme took the received “excess profit” into the shadows through a network of controlled companies, the SBU notes.
On the basis of the collected evidence, both officials were notified of the suspicion of abuse of power or official position committed by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy.
The issue of selecting a preventive measure for them is being resolved.
