The police searched a man who was detained on suspicion of murdering a Kyivan at a gas station in Kyiv. In addition to the rifle from which the fatal shot was fired, a grenade was also found.

Details: The event took place on Wednesday around 7 am in the Svyatoshyn district of Kyiv. At a gas station, a man killed a 65-year-old local resident with a shot from a rifle, then took the victim’s bag and drove away from the scene in his car.
The police detained a 41-year-old suspect not far from the crime scene.
The law enforcement officers searched for the deceased’s car on the territory of the garage cooperative, and the suspect transferred the man’s belongings together with the gun to his own car. In addition, during searches of the suspect’s residence and garage box, police officers found a grenade and ammunition.
Motives of the committed crime are established. The investigation does not exclude the fact that the attacker was probably under the influence of psychotropic or narcotic substances, the results of a medical examination are currently awaited.
The detainee was notified of suspicion under four articles of the Criminal Code:
- Clause 6, Part 2, Art. 115 – intentional murder committed for selfish reasons;
- Part 4 of Art. 187 – robbery attack;
- Part 3 of Art. 289 – illegal possession of a vehicle;
- Part 1 of Art. 263 – illegal handling of weapons.
Investigators are petitioning the court to take the suspect into custody. He faces life imprisonment.
What preceded: On the morning of September 18, a man with a gun approached the driver of a car at one of the gas stations in the capital and shot him in the head. After that, he fled in the victim’s car.
