Moscow: the missile attack on the PSG in the Lviv Region is a response to the drone attack on the Turkish Stream infrastructure

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that the target of the missile attack on January 15 was a gas storage facility in the city of Stryi, Lviv region, and the “ground infrastructure of the largest underground gas storage facility” was affected, according to the statement of the military department released on the night of January 16.

The Russian side claims that it struck Ukrainian facilities in response to the fact that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation struck the territory of the Russian Federation with ATACMS and Storm Shadow long-range missiles, and also tried to attack the compressor station in the village of Gai-Kodzor in the Krasnodar Territory with drones in order to disrupt the supply gas through the Turkish Stream pipeline.

The authorities of the Lviv region reported on January 15 that the Russian Armed Forces attacked two critical infrastructure facilities in the Drohobytsky and Stryi districts, destruction was recorded, but no one was injured. Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Serhiy Nagornyak, said that only the ground equipment was damaged at the gas storage facility in the Lviv region, and that the storage facility itself “works normally.”

On January 15, Russian troops fired more than 40 missiles at energy and gas facilities in Ukraine.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on January 13 that the drones of the Armed Forces attempted to attack the infrastructure of the Russian compressor station in the Krasnodar region, which supplies gas through the Turkish Stream pipeline.
