More than 2500 Russian soldiers who were in Bucha identified – police

More than 2,500 Russian soldiers, who were in Bucha in the Kyiv region, were identified by the head of the department of investigation of crimes committed in the conditions of armed conflict of the Chief Investigative Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine Dmitry Shevchuk.

According to him, 100 of them are involved in committing war crimes, and 34 have already reported suspicion.

The National Police added that 72 murders committed by the Russian military in Bucha were revealed, 24 indictments were already sent to court.

Law enforcement officers noted that in the investigation of criminal proceedings on the death of 358 civilians in Bucha it is well known that more than 300 of them were killed by the Russian military. Many bodies of the dead were burned, which complicated the process of their identification, the police say.

“The process of identification is ongoing. A year ago, we had the number of unidentified – 60 bodies. Now this number is 13 bodies. Here the process is a little complicated because of what condition we found these bodies – they were simply burned by the Russians. However, this process continues, relevant forensic examinations are ongoing, ”Shevchuk said.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine released Bucha from the Russian occupation on March 31, 2022. The world shown in Bucha and Irpen, disrupted the ceasefire between Kiev and Moscow, caused sharply criticism against Moscow and intensified Ukraine’s support.

According to official data, the Russian occupation of Bucha lasted 33 days – from February 27 to March 31, 2022. During this time, 561 civilians were killed due to Russian aggression, including 12 children.
