The authors of the letter – two figures of psychiatry and psychology, Józef Hašto and Anton Heretyk – noted that the threat to democracy in Slovakia and its international authority compels them to comment on Fico’s political behavior and public speeches.
“Your political behavior is characterized by an increasingly powerful authoritarian style, manipulation of facts, lies, slander and attacks on political opponents, journalists and ordinary citizens who express disagreement with your policies. You do not shy away from attacks on the families of opposition representatives…Your political behavior and declared positions polarize society and affect its emotional atmosphere,” the letter reads.

“We unequivocally condemn this act as a manifestation of political violence. You have undoubtedly experienced life-threatening stress that may also affect your future functioning,” they suggest.
“This does not surprise me, because you have long been known publicly as opponents of the current policy of the government. However, one thing is your personal opinion, another, much more serious, is that you are grossly abusing your profession for political purposes… I do not doubt for a second that you will support the opposition’s attempt to create a Slovak Maidan, which the Slovak opposition is diligently working on works,” he wrote on his Facebook.
Fizo accused the authors of the letter of “grossly abusing their professional mission for political purposes.”

The Slovak opposition announced on January 15 that it will initiate a vote of no confidence in the government of Robert Fico, accusing the prime minister of rapprochement in foreign policy with Russia, rather than solving the country’s internal problems.
Fico traveled to Moscow last month for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on ending the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, but did not visit Kyiv.
