According to the media, more than 20 Americans have disappeared during the action on the forefront in Ukraine with a surge in victims in the last six months, as foreigners fill in urgent gaps in the country’s defense.

In particular, at least five American volunteers who enrolled in the Ukrainian army have failed to take away from the battlefield after they died in battle in the last six months. Two of them were returned to the territory occupied by Russia to the Ukrainian land after long negotiations.

Native volunteers told CNN about legal uncertainty, because without official confirmation of death it is impossible to draw up appropriate documents. They also faced the persecution of Russian online trolls on the network.
