The transmission system operator Moldelectrica is working to remedy the situation, and power has already been restored in some localities.
According to NewsMaker, at least Chisinau and its suburbs were affected, as well as Taraklia, Kagul, and Anenii Noi.
It should be noted that this became known at the same time as the information that in Kyiv, due to the loss of voltage from external power supply centers, the movement of trains and the operation of escalators in the subway have been suspended.
The KMDA said that in Kyiv, as in many cities of Ukraine, there were emergency power outages. They also inform about the disappearance of water supply and heating in some areas of the capital.
It is worth recalling that on January 29, US President Donald Trump said that he asked the ruler of Russia to pause strikes “on Kyiv and other cities” for humanitarian reasons for a week, and he allegedly agreed.
Trump did not specify when this happened and when the “week” countdown was supposed to begin.
A new round of negotiations regarding a potential peace agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine is expected on February 1. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the special representative of the US president, Steve Witkoff, and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, will not go there, but that the participation of the US is “likely”.
