A 52-year-old military officer was fatally stabbed in the neck in Lviv on April 2, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. The alleged assailant, a 32-year-old local man identified as an inspector at the Lviv customs office, has been apprehended.
The National Police of Ukraine confirmed that the suspect was detained shortly after the incident, which occurred around 14:15 local time on Paton Street. According to preliminary investigations, the attack took place during a notification event.
“A military officer was fatally injured in Lviv; efforts to save him were unsuccessful. Our condolences go out to the family of the deceased,” stated Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
Emergency medical personnel attempted to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the victim at the scene, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Tetyana Andrieieva, a spokesperson for the Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Assistance, confirmed the details.

Authorities have initiated criminal proceedings under Article 115, Part 2, Clause 8 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to intentional murder. The penalties for this offense range from 10 to 15 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
