Metro for Vineyard: The contractor has to pay UAH 139 million to the Kyiv budget – prosecutor’s office

The contractor who put money on a deposit instead of starting a subway for the Vynohradar will recover 139 million hryvnias to the budget of Kyiv, the City Prosecutor’s Office reported on February 25.

“Having established that budget money was placed in deposit accounts, the capital prosecutor’s office in 2021 appealed to the court to recover the interest received interest in the amount of more than UAH 139 million in favor of the capital community. The case has been considered by the courts repeatedly. In April and October 2024, the Economic Court of Kyiv and the Northern Appeal Court of Appeal fully satisfied the lawsuit of the prosecutor, ”the message reads.

Disagreeing with the said court decisions, the contractor appealed them to the Supreme Court, which refused to satisfy the cassation complaint of the company and left the decision of the courts of the previous instance. The department noted that the Supreme Court had put a point in this case.

In November 2018, the metro metro, according to the results of the tender, concluded a contract with Kyivmetrobud for UAH 5.98 billion from the construction of the continuation of the Syretsk-Pechersk subway line for the Vynohradar residential area. The project was to be implemented by September 2021.

In February 2020, the SBU staff reported searches in the structural units of Kyivmetrobud and in the offices of the State “Ukrgasbank”. At that time, law enforcement officers announced the “scheme of fraudulent seizure of budget funds, including on the fact of unjustified placement in deposit accounts UAH 1.7 billion allocated for the construction of the subway.”

In December 2024, the Kyiv Metro terminated a treaty with Kyivmetrobud due to the failure of construction. The winner on the new tender in July this year was the company “Autostrada”.
