Mertz’s direct speech on the question of whether Germany will supply Ukraine with Taurus missiles: “In recent months, we have been intensively working with the government of Ukraine on the implementation of projects that we technically call “long-range fire”. The Ukrainian army will be equipped with such weapons systems.”
Details: He added that Germany and Ukraine have agreed that they will no longer publicly discuss the details because they believe that “the Russian side should have some uncertainty about the amount of our military support.”
Mertz emphasized that Germany is “doing everything possible to equip the Ukrainian army with weapons systems with a sufficient range.”
“This number will increase in the coming weeks and months, if necessary, until the moment when such weapons systems will also be produced in Ukraine,” the chancellor assured.
