A three-day meeting of leaders and representatives of Ukrainian communities in Turkey is taking place in Ankara.

This was reported by the correspondent of Ukrinform.

“Due to the full-scale invasion of Russia, a large number of Ukrainians were forced to seek a better fate outside of Ukraine. Escaping from Russian bombs and shells, having lost everything, they found refuge in partner countries, including Turkey, which are indifferent to our plight. And it was the Ukrainian unions that became for our forced migrants the centers where they found support and help,” said Oleksiy Chernyshev, Ukraine’s temporary charge d’affaires in Turkey, in his introductory speech.

The diplomat urged representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in Turkey to use every opportunity to inform the Turkish public about Russia’s barbaric war against Ukraine, crimes against humanity committed by Russia in Ukraine.

“Today we are gathering heads of Ukrainian associations from all over Turkey. The purpose of this meeting is to find out how we can improve our cooperation, to communicate. We will also talk about leadership, opportunities to learn English, and the continuation of our joint work,” John Silver, a representative of the US Embassy in Turkey, said in a comment to the agency.

The program of the first day of the meeting included discussions of the current activities of Ukrainian unions, the results of the year’s work, the experience of positive cooperation with local authorities in Turkey, international and Turkish charitable and public organizations, solving problematic issues, etc.

Leaders and representatives of Ukrainian communities in Turkey also visited the Embassy of Ukraine in Turkey.

As reported by Ukrinform, on December 3, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Oleksiy Chernyshov to the post of Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of National Unity of Ukraine. The Ministry of National Unity is an institutional strengthening that will help shape a new quality of work and interaction with the multi-million Ukrainian community from all waves of migration.
