The sources told DPA that Navrotsky confirmed his requirements during negotiations with Merz.
In response, the head of the German government repeated Berlin’s position that this question has long been resolved.
In addition, during the meeting, Merz assured Navrotsky of full solidarity before the threat from Russia. Chancellor stressed that Germany “firmly and unwavering” supports Poland.
Joint security in the Baltic Sea and NATO’s eastern flank remains a “key priority,” Merz said.
It was reported that Navrotsky also raised the issues of post-war reparations to the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeyer, but heard that the question was already resolved.
A representative of the German government on Poland, Knut Abraham, previously suggested Warsaw instead of reparations of security guarantees.
In early September, Navrotsky stated that for good neighborly relations between Poland and Germany it is necessary to resolve the issue of reparations.
Poland, during the reign of Law and Justice, demanded more than trillion euros from Germany. Berlin regularly rejected these requirements.
