Their visit takes place on the eve of the parliamentary elections in Moldova and expected that EU leaders will want to make it clear to the Moldovan voters that their country’s future is connected with the European Union.
“Their presence sends a powerful signal – Moldova is not lonely. Its European path is real, irreversible and is supported by all major political families in the EU,” said Siegfried Muretshan, Romanian MP and the Chairman of the European Parliament delegation in this country.
However, the exact time when Moldova joins the EU and opens the talk cluster – remains contradictory. Earlier in the summer, EU officials and diplomats reported to the agency that the European Union considers the possibility of accelerating the process of Moldova’s accession by opening the negotiating cluster to the elections to stimulate the pro -European camp.
“It is clear that some people want to offer Moldova talk cluster, but to do so through the upcoming elections would be short -sighted and, finally, counterproductively. Other countries are watching it,” one of the officials said.
The French official stated that in the context of what Ukraine is experiencing, “candidates of Ukraine and Moldova have their advantages.”
“Brussels decisions must be made unanimously, and we must act within these principles,” he said.
According to him, the decisions will be made in “coming days or weeks”. Two diplomats also expressed the hope that in the coming months it would be possible to leave the deadlock on the accession of Ukraine, given the pressure on Budapest.
Recall:
- It should be noted that this position was able to adjust under the pressure of Ukrainian diplomats and many allies of the country, who categorically oppose this step. In particular, only the day before, on August 26, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg Ksavier Bettel stated that Benilux countries believe that Moldova and Ukraine have a common future in the EU.
- As reported by “European Truth”, the European Commissioner on Martha Kos Extension on August 26 conducted a video respects with Viceremier of Ukraine on European Integration Taras Kachka on Ukraine’s accession to the EU and the necessary reform.
- The media reported that the EU again considers the possibility of opening the first cluster of negotiations with Moldova – without taking such a step in Ukraine.
- Viceremier has previously stated that the idea of separating Ukraine and Moldova in the process of joining the European Union will destroy the power of European integration, which is needed by Ukraine, Moldova and the EU itself.
